Advertising panels along the walls
Pages meant for reading, such as the entrance page, each problem list, the rules and the three guides, carry one or two panels with Advertisement lettered above them. An advert may hang in those panels and in no other spot. Every panel is cut to a fixed height, so whether it is bare or filled, the line you are reading stays where it is.
The adverts are meant to come through Google AdSense, which is being set up now. Until it is running, each panel shows a short notice of the hall's own: no code from elsewhere and no advertising cookie. The privacy page lists what changes once the network is on.
A sponsor for a table or a run of problems
A firm may also put its name to a single table, the draughts problems for instance, or to a series of daily problems. Such a table carries a panel reading Sponsored by with the firm's name after it, so it is never unclear who is paying for what.
A sponsor is given that line and a link. It has no hand in the rules, the problems or their keys, nor in the way the computer plays.
What the hall will never hang
- An advert or a sponsor panel on a board, over the pieces, or tucked against the buttons you use in a game.
- Paid advantages: hints, take-backs, the four computer strengths and every numbered problem are the same for every visitor, and nothing in a game is for sale.
- Visitor data for sale. The hall keeps no such data to begin with: your games live in this browser.
- Windows that pop up, or adverts that fill the screen, in the middle of a game.
Advertising or sponsoring in the hall
Firms that want an advertising panel or a sponsored table can write to hello@ninemenhall.com. A few lines about your firm and the idea are enough; questions about this page are answered at the same address.
