Nine Men Hall is a place to play the old two-player table games in a browser, with the mill at the centre. Morris in its three sizes gets the most attention: the board, the problem set and two of the guides are built around it. Draughts, reversi, four in a row, five in a row and dots and boxes have their own tables along the walls.
Every game can be played against the computer at four strengths or by two people sharing one device. The computer runs entirely in your browser, in a background thread, and nothing is sent anywhere.
The problems
The numbered problems are generated by the game engine and accepted only when an exhaustive search proves that exactly one first move forces the stated result. The daily problem is chosen the same way from the date, so every visitor sees the same position on the same day.
What the hall does not do
Nobody signs in here, nothing is advertised, no visitor statistics are gathered and there are no share buttons. Your unfinished games, statistics, solved problems and candles sit in this browser's local storage and vanish when that storage is cleared.
Mistakes and suggestions
If a rule looks wrong, a problem seems to allow a second solution or a page misbehaves on your device, a short note helps us fix it; the address is on the contact page.
